Any community is usually a product of its environment and the size of the population of Fincham shows only very gradual increase until the beginning of the 19th century, however between 1800 and 1861 the population of the parish increased by more than 60% as the growing populations of the Industrial Revolution demanded more food as British agriculture flourished in the years before cheap overseas imports depressed its market.
